Hutchin Graham was a stable boy at Carlisle Castle. He was placed there by his relatives to attempt to learn if Robert Carey could be bought and, if so, his price.

Hutchin road Sir Robert Carey's horse in a race on Sunday, 9th July 1592; he was winning when he was unhorsed by a rival rider. He resolved to kill the rival after he became an adult.

Hutchin followed Sir Robert Carey to Scotland.
